Kakadu has been on our ‘bucket list’ for many years, we thought what better way to begin summer holidays than to escape the cold weather and head to the Top End of Australia.

Its coming into that wonderful time of the season when major attractions are opening!
My wife and I visited Kakadu in January 2013, this was our third time there in the past three years.
We set off early afternoon from Gagudju Lodge Cooinda heading towards Gubara in search of the famous Leichhardt’s grasshopper that we had heard so much about!
Waking up in the Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn was a different experience this Christmas! The pillow menu made it hard for me to make it down to for breakfast!
Great news! Gunlom Falls now set to open Friday 4th July, 2025.
After trying to open back in May, Gunlom Falls is finally ready to welcome you from 4th July 2025 – fashionably late, thanks to a soggy surprise from Mother Nature and a cheeky saltwater croc! 🐊
Rangers have been working hard—fixing roads, clearing debris, and safely relocating the crocodile from the lower pool. The area is nearly ready for visitors. As always, Be Crocwise and drive safely on 4WD tracks. Kakadu Adventure Tours are available for those not self-driving.

Visiting Arnhem Land and Kakadu National Park is an unforgettable experience in Australia. Located in the Northern Territory, these regions are incredibly rich in Aboriginal culture. Kakadu is a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its ancient rock art, vast wetlands, and diverse wildlife.
Arnhem Land, which requires a permit to visit, is still owned and managed by Indigenous communities. It offers a deep cultural connection and a chance to experience one of the most untouched landscapes in the country.
If you're interested in history, nature, and Indigenous culture, this part of Australia is truly special.

Cahills Crossing is one of Kakadu National Park’s most fascinating spots. This tidal crossing over the East Alligator River is known for its large population of saltwater crocodiles, which can often be seen lurking nearby, especially when the tide is high.
An important reminder to respect the wild and watch from a safe distance. 🐊

Standing atop Ubirr as the sun sets over Kakadu is nothing short of breathtaking. The ancient rock art tells stories thousands of years old, while the sweeping views of floodplains and stone country stretch endlessly to the horizon. 🌅
