Kakadu during the ‘wet’ or ‘Gudjewg’ season offers incredible opportunities for tourists who enjoy seeing waterfalls gushing torrents of water
It has been a great end to the year for Kadadu tourism, with the region and ‘The Croc’ hotel being recognised as the ‘best of the best’ in the Northern Territory Awards.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Crocodile Dundee earlier this year, a group of journalists retraced Mick’s footsteps and discovered the magic behind the film…
On Sept. 26, 1986, “Crocodile Dundee” hit theaters in the United States, and Paul Hogan became the face of Australia.
The first season of Flash Camp @ Kakadu has been a tremendous success with the comforts of high quality bedding, a beautiful location and the communal attraction of camping
That’s the view of intrepid explorer and blogger, Steph Parker, whose popular website Big World Small Pockets reflects her ‘modus operandi’ of seeing as much of the world as possible, but on a careful, well-planned budget.
Camping in a stylish tent, with super-comfortable beds, all prepared for your arrival is at the heart of the new Flash Camp @ Kakadu accommodation, which will launch in July for the Kakadu dry season.
Thirty years ago, the film Crocodile Dundee catapulted Kakadu into the international spotlight. Paul Hogan played the character of Mick ‘Crocodile’ Dundee, a legendary bushie, who had supposedly lost a leg to a croc in an outback encounter.
April is Kakadu Discovery Month and visitors to the National Park will be able to take advantage of a wide range of immersive experiences to help connect with Kakadu, its environment, its people, its culture and its rich history.
📢 IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Gunlom opening delayed
Due to significant rainfall over recent days, Gunlom is unable to open as planned on Saturday 31 May. Strong water flows in the top pools and over the falls have made this area unsafe for visitors to access. Water levels have subsequently risen in the lower pool and adjacent creeks.
There is flooding across lower parts of Gunlom with some boardwalks and walking trails under water, and excess water has also impacted the access roads. Due to the location of Gunlom, it is also anticipated that additional water flows from the region may continue to impact the site.
Traditional Owners have been consulted and agree that the site is not able to be opened at present. We understand this will be disappointing news and want to assure the community that as soon as conditions allow, Kakadu National Park staff will commence work to clear debris and repair any damage to roads. The area will be monitored closely and further updates provided, including the new opening date.
Thank you for your understanding.
