With its oasis style atmosphere, Cooinda Lodge offers an inviting shaded swimming pool, bistro-style dining, bars, petrol station and a store that offers locally-made crafts as well a wide range of essentials for touring.

The Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre is just five minutes from Cooinda and many local attractions are within easy travelling distance.

Cooinda Lodge Rooms

Guests staying in the newly refurbished Superior and Family Rooms at the lodge enjoy full bathroom facilities and a television. Rooms can accommodate a maximum of 4 people, with rollaway beds and cots available for hire. Guests have a choice of:

  • 28 – Superior rooms with 1 x queen bed, 1 x single bed
  • 20 – Family rooms with 1 x queen bed, 2 x single beds

Outback Retreats

Our brand new Outback Retreats are built on an elevated platform to ensure year-round usability and minimal environmental impact. The canvas tents have one solid wall, a glass front door and a deck with outdoor furniture. All bedding feature high quality mattresses, toppers and linen. Interiors have been designed to reflect the Kakadu bushscape and incorporate many Australian designed and hand built elements, including locally produced indigenous weaving and artwork. Outback Retreats have its own dedicated share bathroom and amenities centre. Guests have a choice of:

  • 10 – Outback Retreats with 1x queen bed. Suitable for up to 2 adults
  • 10 – Outback Retreat Plus' with 1x queen bed, 1x bunk bed. Suitable for up to 2 adults and 2 children.

Camp under the trees in one of our luxury tents in the remotest area of the lodge. Includes:

Mimi's Restaurant

Our Executive chef has  created a brand new menu and dining experience, completely transforming Mimi's restaurant. Locally foraged and sourced foods where possible, the menu embodies traditional Indigenous flavours with modern techniques. Located in Cooinda Lodge Kakadu, Mimi's Restaurant is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  

Open not just to guests but anyone in the area, Mimi's seats up to 60 people and can get very busy during dry season which is the perfect excuse to have a drink beforehand at the licensed bar.

They also do takeaway for those who like to take their meals back to their rooms or campsite.

The Barra Bar 

Bookings are not required, we are open until late and offer a wide range of beers, wine, and soft drinks, along with snacks.  

Adventurers of the great North will enjoy the comforts of fine food at the Barra Bistro. Come dine in a relaxed and down to earth Australian style bistro, pull up a seat outside in the spacious outdoor dining area or enjoy the nature.  Our dishes use a mixture of native, local ingredients and classic favourites. A great family friendly environment, Barra Bistro is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
