Kakadu’s cool season is in full swing, bringing crisp mornings, mild days, and easy access to remote areas. With receding floodwaters, popular attractions like Jim Jim and Twin Falls become accessible by 4WD. This is the most popular time of year to visit Kakadu, when everything is open and the weather is at its most comfortable. For Bininj/Mungguy (local people), this is a time of abundant hunting and harvesting. Visitors should book ahead, as accommodation and tours can fill quickly.
Things to Do: 4WD adventure tours, waterfall hikes, camping, stargazing, cultural tours.
🎆 Double the reason to celebrate Territory Day! 🌿
Today isn't just Territory Day… it's also the reopening of one of Kakadu's most iconic destinations – Gunlom Falls!
Whether you're celebrating Territory Day with family or planning your next Dry Season adventure, there's never been a better time to explore the Top End. Pack the 4WD, grab your swimmers and add Gunlom to your Territory bucket list! 💦

The dry season brings clear skies, calm waterways, and wildlife that has to be seen to be believed. And if you'd rather leave the driving, the planning, and the navigation to someone who knows this country deeply, Deb at @ntdriverguide is your person.
Deb runs private, escorted 4WD tours into Kakadu tailored entirely around you - your pace, your interests, your group.
Deb's an accredited Aboriginal cultural guide with over 15 years of experience in the Top End, and her guests tend to leave saying they saw and understood a side of Kakadu they never would have found alone.
Day tours, multi-day experiences, accessible options - it's all on the table.
