Gather on-country with the Murdudjurl Community and immerse yourself in traditional culture at the Mayali Mulil Festival from Friday 6th to Sunday 8th of September. A three-hour drive from Darwin, or just a short distance from Cooinda Lodge, the Aboriginal-run festival is open to people of all ages. Everyone is welcome to this unique experience to share in one of the worlds’ oldest living cultures with live music, cultural activities, workshops, art and bush-tucker. Come for the day or camp under the stars with us in one of the Territory’s most cherished cultural festivals.

What's Included in Mayali Mulil Festival Package?
Your journey begins at Cooinda Lodge, where you'll be picked up at 6pm on Friday 6th September and driven to Kakadu Billabong Safari Camp, located on the edge of a billabong complex along Jim Jim Creek. You will be visiting traditional Aboriginal land, engaging
directly with the local community and culture. Breakfast will be provided and all other meals can be purchased at the event (please bring cash as internet payment solutions are not reliable in this remote area)
Festival activities include: Learning Traditional Dancing, Indigenous Music, Guided Walks & Talk on Country, Art Exhibition celebrating local artists, Bush Tucker and Cultural workshops ~ Pandanus Weaving, Bark Painting, Didj & Clapstick Making, Spear & Borndok Making and Plucka Goose.
Accommodation Facilities
Each of the 10 twin-share Eco Huts are in an exclusive location surrounded by savannah woodlands, embracing the tranquility of Kakadu without electricity or air conditioning. Bathroom and solar hot-water shower facilities are conveniently located a short walk from your eco hut, ensuring a comfortable yet immersive bush experience.
