Kakadu Bird Week
Wed 23 – Sun 27 September 2026
Bird Week is a spectacular event that coincides with the dramatic mass migration of magpie geese. These magnificent birds flock to the billabongs, like Yellow Water (Ngurrungurrudjba), to feed, creating a breathtaking spectacle as the waters recede towards the end of the dry season. This is the perfect time to witness not only the diverse birdlife but also Kakadu's impressive array of exotic wildlife, including crocodiles, buffalo, brumbies, and wallabies.

🌿 The best adventures are worth the journey. Getting to Gunlom is a great adventure in itself... but reaching the spectacular natural infinity pool makes every step worthwhile. 💦☀️
There’s something pretty special about slowing down, finding a spot on the rocks and simply soaking up the beauty of Kakadu together.

Ever wondered what a stay at Cooinda Lodge actually looks like? Swipe through and see for yourself.
👉 You'll arrive at our village-style resort beside Yellow Water Billabong, find a park with ease, check in, and grab a few snacks from the store (and the obligatory Croc kitchen mitt - a crowd pleaser), before wandering through the leafy grounds to your accommodation. Then it's time to settle into whichever stay suits you best - comfortable, air-conditioned Lodge Rooms with their own ensuite; Outback Retreats, our safari-style canvas tents with handcrafted furniture, Aboriginal artwork, and ensuites; or, for something truly special, a Yellow Water Villa with its own private bathtub on the veranda. And yes we have a campground too with pop-up tents (everything is supplied), along with powered and unpowered sites.
However you like to travel, there's a spot for you here. 🧡
