Driving from Darwin is straightforward via the Arnhem Highway, the main road into Kakadu. The trip typically takes 2.5 to 3 hours. Along the way, we recommend stopping at the Mamukala Wetlands or visiting the Bowali Visitor Centre near Jabiru to purchase your Parks Pass and pick up information on the region.

Fly into Darwin International Airport, then continue your journey to Kakadu. The Mercure Kakadu Crocodile Hotel is located in Jabiru, approximately a 3-hour drive from Darwin. Youโll need to hire a car or join a tour from Darwin to reach the hotel.
For a faster and scenic option, Kakadu Air offers private charter flights from Darwin to Kakadu. Bookings can be made directly through their website.

It's a 7.5 km return hike takes you through lush monsoon forests, across rocky ridge-lines, and into one of Kakaduโs most rewarding swimming holes. It is a must-do for those seeking solitude, dramatic scenery, and a real outback adventure.
Bird lovers - keep an eye out for a bower bird nest around 1.5km into the trail!
