Driving from Darwin is straightforward via the Arnhem Highway, the main road into Kakadu. The trip typically takes 2–3 hours to Jabiru, 3–4 hours to Cooinda. Along the way, we recommend stopping at the Mamukala Wetlands or visiting the Bowali Visitor Centre near Jabiru to purchase your Parks Pass and pick up information on the region.

We have received significant rainfall over the weekend which has seen water levels rise quickly. As a result we have closed Cooinda Lodge, Yellow Water Cruises and Warradjan Cultural Centre to ensure the safety of all our wonderful staff.
While the Mercure Kakadu Crocodile remains open to guests, the road to access Jabiru from both Darwin and Katherine is currently closed.
Please keep an eye on the Kakadu Access Report and NT Road Report for daily updates before coming out to visit us:
