Experience an unforgettable Easter weekend at Mercure Crocodile Hotel, featuring a thrilling reptile show on Saturday, March 30th, followed by Sunday festivities on March 31st, including a bouncy castle, delicious bacon and egg rolls, croc and egg paintings, and a relaxing Easter movie for the perfect unwind.

Cooinda Lodge

Immerse yourself in the Easter magic at Cooinda Lodge with a delectable experience, featuring a special native-ingredient inspired set menu dinner on both Friday, March 29th, and Saturday, March 30th, at 6 pm for $65 per person (minimum 2 people). For the little ones, we'll also be hosting an exciting Easter egg scavenger hunt and to cap off your evenings, an easter-themed movie night in the balmy outdoors.

If you're entering Kakadu National Park from the northern end, be sure to stop in at Bowali Visitor Centre. It's a great first-stop on your Kakadu adventure! Staff are on hand to answer questions and help plan your walks and activities.

There is also a walk-through display where you’ll learn more about the plants, animals and landscapes you’ll see in the park. A park pass is required to enter Kakadu National Park. You can save time on your holiday and purchase your Kakadu park pass online before you leave 👌🏼

The blue-winged kookaburra is common in Kakadu’s woodlands. Their raucous calling to ward off rivals can be heard at sunrise and sunset.

The male has bright light-blue plumage on its wings and tail, while the female only has blue on its wings. The blue-winged Kookaburra is smaller than its cousin, the laughing kookaburra.

You’re likely to find the blue-winged kookaburra perched in trees in Kakadu’s woodlands, paperbark swamps and wetland fringes, as well as around the Jabiru township. Its large size and bright colours make it a great bird for beginners to spot.

Look for it at Mardukal near Cooinda, or at nearby Yellow Water (Ngurrungurrudjba), particularly in the paperbark trees near the walkway at the water’s edge. You might also spot it at Kubara in the Burrungkuy (Nourlangie) region.

If you are in Kakadu for cool-season burning (the bangkerreng and yekke seasons from April to June), you might see this bird snatching insects that have been flushed out by the fires.

Did you know that Parks Australia offers a range of Bininj/Mungguy led FREE activities from 29 May to 4 October 2024. It is a great opportunity to connect with our Bininj/Mungguy (Aboriginal) Country and Culture as Bininj/Mungguy guide you through some of Kakadu’s stunning sites.

Bookings are handled through Eventbrite. Group sizes are limited and you will need to bring your park pass, visitor guide and arrive at your activity site 10 minutes early.
