🐊 World Crocodile Day is celebrated every 17 June to raise awareness and appreciation for one of the planet's most ancient and misunderstood reptiles.
And there are few better places on Earth to truly understand them than Kakadu - home to thousands of saltwater and freshwater crocodiles living wild across billabongs, floodplains and river systems that have barely changed in millennia.
Saltwater crocodiles have survived five mass extinctions. They're not a relic of the past - they're a living part of it. In Kakadu, they're also a cornerstone of the ecosystem, and deeply significant to Bininj and Mungguy people whose connection to this country spans tens of thousands of years.
Respect them. Learn about them. Marvel at them... from a safe distance. 🐊

New Workshop - Weaving on Country! Join Traditional Owners and Bininj members of the Murumburr Clan for a hands-on pandanus weaving experience on Country. Learn directly from Daluk (Indigenous women) as they share techniques, stories, and knowledge passed down from 65,000 years of continuous culture.
Weaving and gathering materials are traditionally recognised as Women’s business, and this experience offers a respectful way to engage with that living practice. While guided by women, both men and women are welcome to observe, learn, and take part.
The workshop is held at Warradjan Cultural Centre from June to September at 9.30am or 11.00am, and runs for 1 hour.
