Where to meet (20 mins prior)

Meet at the Cooinda Lodge bus stop at 3:10 pm, directly opposite reception.

Note: We are unable to hold this tour back for late arrivals and there is no possibility to self-drive to this unique location.

Take a guided walking tour of the billabong and local community, and discover the history, stories, and traditions of the Murumburr clan families and their connection to the land.

Billy Tea and Damper
Gather around the fire to enjoy traditional Billy Tea and Damper, while engaging in relaxed conversation with fellow travellers and members of the local community.

Cultural Activities
Try your hand at traditional weaving using locally collected dried Pandanus plants dyed with natural colours, or explore Indigenous painting techniques and methods passed down through generations.

Bush Tucker Experience
Sample seasonal traditional foods, prepared using ingredients abundant at the time. Taste the flavours of the land while gaining insight into local food practices and traditions.

Visit Old Patonga Community School Art Gallery
Marvel at a stunning collection of local artwork, including woven Pandanus earrings and bangles, paintings by talented Murumburr artists, and other authentic cultural pieces. Selected works are available for purchase as unique souvenirs.

Our tour takes place in natural, undisturbed settings, requiring guests to walk on sandy, uneven, and rough ground. Please wear appropriate footwear and be prepared for uneven terrain.

Climate ☀️
The tour occurs in areas that can experience intense heat. To protect yourself from the sun, we strongly recommend wearing a hat, applying sunscreen regularly, and carrying sufficient water to stay hydrated throughout your adventure.

You will be welcomed into an Aboriginal community, providing a unique opportunity to connect with local traditions and lifestyles. Please dress in casual, culturally appropriate clothing and respect community practices and the environment.

Dogs 🐕
Dogs are present within the community. They are generally friendly, but please respect their space and avoid disturbing them.

Traditional Foods 🥪
Part of your experience may include observing or tasting raw foods prepared in traditional ways. This offers a rare and authentic insight into Indigenous dietary practices.

Photography 📸
Always ask for permission before photographing Traditional Owners, hosts, or any community members. Respect for personal and cultural boundaries is essential and greatly appreciated.

Water Activities 💧
Some parts of the tour may involve water, so consider bringing waterproof gear or a change of clothes if you wish to stay dry.
