Start of the dry time

The rains have finished. Cooler temperatures and the winds blowing from North-East to West signal the start of the dry season. Local Bininj/Mungguy will say this is the time of "big mob dragonflies" and if you're on a Yellow Water Cruise in Yekke season - you'll know why!

Flowering of Darwin Woolly Butt also convey that it is time to start burning the woodlands in patches to 'clean the country' and encourage new growth for grazing animals. This is when Kakadu icons such as Maguk, Jim Jim and Twin Falls begin to open for tourist.
